Exterior Plastering – Rendering A Plinth

This project was carried out on an Edwardian character property in Woodford, Essex. As you can see from our photographs the existing plinth on the house had deteriorated and needed to be.

We began by firstly cleaning the wall and applying a thick scratch coat of plaster. A 10mm stop-bead was set onto the scratch coat before a top coat plaster finish was applied. The gap between the exterior wall and the stop-bead was then sealed with a mastic PVA adhesive to prevent water penetrating in between and causing damp.

Keeping the exterior plinth in s state of good repair is essential for protecting a property against damp, as it is designed to reduce the likelihood of damp affecting your property below the damp course. The high quality smooth surface finish we achieve with our work is then ready for painting if so required.
