This is a project which we undertook in Chelmsford, Essex, where we were called in to put this property right, because the unfortunate homeowner had called in another plastering company to complete the replacement of the pebble dashing on the walls of their house, but proved incapable of completing the job properly.
Having assessed the situation we agreed to remove the ‘rendering’ and beads from the walls and take it back to the brickwork, so that we could start afresh. This was simply because the render was so badly applied and the alignment of the wall beading made the house walls look crooked. In short it was an awful job and we had to put it right, from scratch. If you look at the pictures, the dark rendering is that which had to remove, the pale render is the new surface applied by us before the top lay of pebble dashing with Nordic Spa stones.
Once the render had been hacked off of the walls we made made sure that the replacement wall beading was fitted straight, keeping the corners of the house neat with 3 beads per corner using two stop beads and a corner bead made out of stainless steel. Next we applied a ‘scratch coat’ to bring the walls in line and make them straight and even, as the calcium brick built walls were in a bit of a state. The client had decided to use Nordic Spa stones and wanted to achieve a white stone finished look. In order to achieve this we used white cement to cover the walls in a mix ratio of 4:1.
In this case the stones chosen were Nordic Spa stones, which give an off-white finish. At Pegasus Plastering we are able to offer a choice of pebble dash stones, these include:
Red and grey flint,
with white calcium
White calcium and black granite
