This pebble dash repair work in Friern Barnet involved making good external patches of wall that had been filled, following the removal of windows during building works.
As you will see from the photos, our customers had two windows removed from the side elevation of their house. One of the windows was completely blocked up and the other was replaced with a smaller window.
To make a begin the work at hand, the breeze block surfaces and the exposed edges of the original pebble dash surface were sealed with PVA adhesive in order to stop the initial render or ‘scratch coat’ from drying to quickly and cracking. This coat is applied evenly to leave around 10mm depth for the top coat to be applied on top. The scratch coat is keyed or scratched in order to help ensure that a good contact can be made with the top coat for adhesion. This coat is then left to set for a day. Once it is set the top coat is then applied evenly so as to allow for the new pebble dashing to be applied and match the level of the existing pebble dashing when the stones are applied.
