Pegasus Plastering recently fitted plasterboard to kitchen walls at a home in Barnet and skimmed the wall surface to create a smooth plaster finish.
We had a call from a client with character Victorian property in Barnet who was having the kitchen renovated, having had a very dated kitchen and heating system removed. In this case the most cost effective option for the owners was to use a technique known as ‘dot n dab’. Dot n dab is much how it sounds; dots of adhesive are dabbed on the wall and then plasterboard is mounted to the wall. This enables our plasterers to quickly create a smooth level surface, which can then be skimmed to give a finished effect.
So first of all, our plasterers cut the plasterboard into panels to fit the space. A series of dabs are then evenly distributed over sections of the wall in readiness for the plasterboard to be mounted. The section of plasterboard is then put in place and pressed into position with even pressure and then aligned. Once the plasterboard was secured to the wall, we then applied a top coat of plaster skimming to create a smooth and even finish. As you can see, when the plasterboard was mounted to the wall the electrical sockets and power points were pulled though in readiness for a final fix by the electrician, which will most likely be completed once the wall tiles and painting is completed.
